Harborfields Public Library is dedicated to providing access to information, ideas and knowledge through books, programs, technology and other resources. We welcome and support our community in its pursuit of education, culture and enrichment activities. (11/09)

Library History

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebration, we have written a brief history of our library.

Library Board of Trustees

Harborfields Public Library is governed by a Library Board consisting of 5 elected trustees. Each trustee serves a five-year term with one trustee position coming up for election each year.

How do I join the Library?

Harborfields Public Library cards are issued to residents of Harborfields Central School District. To join the library and obtain a library card you must apply in person at the circulation desk and bring two forms of identification (one with a photo) to prove residency. A library card entitles its holder to all services of the Harborfields Public Library plus varying borrowing privileges at any other Suffolk County public library. Your library card will be valid for three years, at which time you will need to verify proof of residency to renew your library card.

A fax machine is available for public use in the Reference Room. The fee per outgoing fax is $2.00 (up to 15 pages). The fee for an incoming fax is $1.00 per page received, including any cover sheets.

Loan Period For Materials

Most materials circulate for 21 days. New DVD's circulate for 3 days - they are due back by closing time on the third day.

Library Tutor Policy

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:30 to 8:00 PM, two children's program rooms are furnished with tables and chairs to accommodate up to twelve tutors and students at one time. (10/11) Click here for the complete policy.
